Since its inception in 1996, and its recognition as a not-for-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service in 1997, Women On Maintaining Education and Nutrition (W.O.M.E.N.) has provided support, advice/referral, education, and nutrition information for people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

W.O.M.E.N.’s Board of Directors, staff and volunteers believe that HIV/AIDS is a community problem, therefore requires a community response. Our mission is to enlighten, inform, and educate our community. W.O.M.E.N. is a non-profit organization that provides HIV education and prevention services as well as referrals to those person infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. We are committed to improving the quality of life for people who are HIV Positive while working to reduce rates of infection and risk to others. Preventing HIV and STD’s requires a comprehensive strategy composed of a service delivery system with effective sustained health education and health promotion interventions.

W.O.M.E.N.’s health education and risk reduction programs are targeted to reach persons at increased risk of becoming infected with HIV or, if already infected, of transmitting the virus to others. W.O.M.E.N.’s outreach activities are peer led.
